SAP UX Immersive Keynote

Dan was contacted to produce a keynote address for SAP’s Chief Design Officer (CDO). He started by scheduling a call with the CDO’s Chief of Staff to determine context for the request, collecting requirements, identifying scope and a timeline. The CDO was open to recording anywhere in SAP’s three Bay Area offices, but Dan immediately identified SAP’s Engineering Academy, a space emblematic of design excellence. Dan drove to San Ramon the next day to scout the location after which he contact colleagues responsible for the space to reserve it. He took pictures of the location to share with the CDO’s team.

The day before the shoot, he packed up his car with all of the necessary equipment. On recording day, he arrived four hours early to unpack and prepare. The recorded required two Canon C200s, a wireless lavalier mic system, two monitors for PowerPoint and notes, a PowerPoint clicker, two backup recorders, power supplies, cables, talent marking tape, caution tape, and routing devices. The most time spent was arranging monitors to ensure optimal eye contact with the camera. The shoot went smoothly with only two repeated sections.

Dan only had 2 days to edit. Immediately after the shoot, the car was packed up and footage was uploaded into an editing project. Previously, Dan had requested and received exact editing requirements. He edited the final video exactly to specifications and delivered the footage after one full day of editing. This allowed the team in Germany to review the video overnight and submit final revisions. No revisions were requested and the video was shown to thousands of online participants for the UX Immersive event the following week.
